• How long have you been a Realtor?
I’ve been a full-time dedicated Realtor since 1989 and I love what I do.
• What area do you specialize in?
I cover all of Marin County. I make it my duty and passion to intimately know the market from Sausalito to Novato. Occasionally I represent a client in Sonoma County or San Francisco, if I feel it is in the best interest of the client.
• Would you be willing to provide references?
Absolutely. I welcome the opportunity! I have had the honor and privilege to represent over 500 buyers and sellers in my career and am committed to being a resource and counselor for them for life. I have hundreds of satisfied clients who refer me their friends and family.
• Are you a full-time Real Estate Agent?
I take the responsibilities of my chosen career seriously and have always worked full-time. Every year since I entered the business I have achieved the Chairman’s Circle of Excellence – the highest level of production. Working at this business part-time is a disservice to clients. An agent needs to be on the pulse of the market always.
• Are you a Real Estate Broker?
I am a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of California, License #01020594, with a perfect record.
• Where do you live?
Over the years I have lived in many communities in Marin and currently I own a home in Ross and have one son.
• Real Estate Agents earn a lot of commission in the sale of a house, don’t you agree?
On the surface, yes, and when you break it down you see that the commission is actually split four ways. The buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent share the gross amount then they each in turn split the remainder with their employing broker. Out of my share I pay a full-time licensed real estate assistant, advertising and marketing expenses (there are many), professional and educational fees, and of course, taxes. I’m left with about 1% of the sales price. And remember, I don’t see a dime unless there is a sale. That’s why approximately 80% of Realtors leave the business after only 18 months. Think about it…if it was so easy, don’t you think more people would do it?
• How many homes do you typically sell per year in Marin?
Approximately 30 to 40.
• What is the total number of properties you’ve sold?
Over 500!
• Do you request that I sign a “Buyer Broker Agreement”?
No! Some agents will require it, I don’t. When we decide to work together, it is a mutual unwritten agreement based on your word and mine. If, for some reason, it is not working out, we’ll owe it to each other to say so.
• Don’t you have a vested interest in getting the price as high as possible?
I’ve heard this question most in my career…and asked in the reverse – don’t we just want the prices as low as possible for a quick sale? Simply put, I always put the interest of my clients first and my reward is the satisfaction and pride in knowing that clients are cared for and happy. I am in this business for the long-term and have a lot invested. It would not make sense to do anything that was not in my clients’ best interest.
• I feel like I should wait. Don’t you think it’s the peak of prices now?
Believe me, everyone feels that way at some point of the process. While I don’t have a crystal ball, Marin has always been a safe bet for appreciation, not to mention it is one of the most desirable places to live in the world! If you look at a bar graph, every decade the average price at least doubles. Prices here don’t go down! They may be relatively flat for a few years. I challenge you to try to find a Marin County home owner who isn’t satisfied with the return on their investment!
